Legal & Disclaimers

Last updated: June 7, 2026

This page collects the plain-language disclosures that NovaCalc shows the first time you use a feature that touches sensitive inputs — camera, microphone, the floating calculator window, the global hotkey, exchange rates, cryptocurrency prices, PDF export, and online speech recognition. The wording here is mirrored verbatim from the in-app dialogs so the web and the app stay consistent. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for the broader commitments.

Why this page exists

Some NovaCalc features touch sensitive inputs. We believe in telling you exactly what we do (and don't do) with each one. Each section below describes a single feature, what data it touches, and what stays on your device. We never sell or upload this data, and you can revoke access at any time in your system settings.

Feature disclosures

Camera & photo access (OCR scan)

NovaCalc uses your camera or photo library to read handwritten or printed math from a single image. Images are processed on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

  • Images stay on this device.
  • No faces, locations, or background data are stored.
  • You can revoke access anytime in system Settings.

Microphone & speech (voice input)

NovaCalc converts what you say into a math expression. Audio is sent to your device's speech engine (Google on Android, Apple on iOS) only while the listening indicator is on.

  • Audio is not recorded by NovaCalc.
  • You can stop listening at any time.
  • Disabling microphone access removes this feature.

Floating window (Android overlay)

The floating window lets you keep NovaCalc on top of other apps. This is offered as a Pro feature and uses Android's "Draw over other apps" permission.

  • The window can be dragged, resized, or closed anytime.
  • Overlay content is rendered by NovaCalc — no other app can read it.
  • You can revoke this permission in system Settings.

Global hotkey (accessibility / input-monitor)

The global hotkey opens NovaCalc from any app on your computer. It uses your platform's accessibility / input-monitor permission and runs entirely on this device.

  • The hotkey never logs what you type elsewhere.
  • You can change or disable the hotkey in Settings.
  • Uninstalling NovaCalc removes the registration.

Exchange rates (currency converter)

Exchange rates shown in NovaCalc are fetched from public sources and may be delayed. They are intended for personal reference, not for trading or financial decisions.

  • Rates are cached for up to 24 hours.
  • Always confirm with your bank before sending money.
  • We are not liable for losses from rate inaccuracies.

Cryptocurrency prices

Crypto prices shown here come from public APIs and are for informational purposes only. They are not financial advice and must not be used for trading decisions.

  • Prices are delayed and may differ from live exchanges.
  • NovaCalc does not execute trades or hold your funds.
  • Cryptocurrency is volatile — you may lose your entire investment.

Export & print (PDF generation)

When you export or print, NovaCalc uses your device's print system. Generated PDFs are saved locally or shared with the app you choose — they are not uploaded to our servers.

  • PDFs may include data you have entered.
  • Review the file before sharing it.
  • You can clear exported files from your device anytime.

Speech recognition (Windows desktop)

On Windows, NovaCalc uses your system's online speech recognition service. Your audio is sent to that service for the duration of the dictation only.

  • You can disable online speech in Windows Privacy settings.
  • NovaCalc does not store your audio.
  • An internet connection is required.

How to revoke access

On Android, open Settings → Apps → NovaCalc → Permissions and toggle off anything you no longer want to grant. On iOS, open Settings → NovaCalc and toggle the relevant permission. On Windows and macOS, open the system Privacy settings and remove NovaCalc's microphone, accessibility, or other entries. Revoking access disables the feature within the app immediately.
