Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 7, 2026

NovaCalc ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the NovaCalc application.

1. Information We Collect

NovaCalc is designed to work primarily on your device. Calculation history, favorites, preferences, default units, default currency, fitness defaults, and app settings are stored locally on your device.

We do not sell personal information. We do not require account creation to use the app.

2. Device Permissions

The app may request limited permissions needed for specific features. Android builds declare internet, network-state, and Wi-Fi-state access for online app functions. Desktop builds use online entitlement checks for unlock status. These permissions and checks are used only to provide app functionality.

NovaCalc may request "Draw over other apps" permission to provide floating calculator functionality. This permission is only used to display the calculator overlay and does not access or monitor other apps.

Android builds also declare foreground-service permissions for the floating calculator service, and legacy external-storage write access limited to Android 9 and below for save flows.

For the full list of feature-by-feature disclosures — including camera/photo, microphone, global hotkey, exchange rates, cryptocurrency, PDF export, and online speech recognition — see the Legal & Disclaimers page. The wording on that page mirrors the in-app dialogs so the website and the app stay consistent.

3. Third-Party Services

If third-party services are used (such as app distribution platforms, email apps, analytics, crash reporting, or desktop checkout/entitlement services), those services may process data according to their own privacy policies.

NovaCalc's voice-input feature delegates to your device's built-in speech engine (Google on Android, Apple on iOS, the system speech service on Windows). Audio is sent to that engine only for the duration of an active dictation. NovaCalc does not record or store the audio.

NovaCalc's currency and crypto features fetch public market data from third-party APIs. Only the bare-minimum request is sent (no identifiers, no device fingerprint). The fetched data is cached locally for up to 24 hours.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

NovaCalc primarily stores data locally on your device. Calculation history is retained on your device until you delete it, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. To limit on-device retention, the app keeps up to 500 history items and removes older non-favorite entries when that limit is reached. Password-generator outputs are redacted in stored history.

You can delete stored calculator history from within the app by opening the History section and removing individual entries or clearing history. You can also delete locally stored app data at any time by clearing NovaCalc's app storage in your device settings or by uninstalling the app.

If third-party services process technical data such as crash logs or analytics events, those providers retain that data according to their own policies. If you need help with a deletion request related to data processed by a third-party service, contact us at novacalc.help@gmail.com.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect data handled by the app. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

Desktop unlock checks use a device-bound identifier stored with secure storage where available. Android Play Store installs can be treated as unlocked by the app.

6. Children's Privacy

NovaCalc is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
